Gamble Plantation Ellenton Florida
Gamble Plantation Historic State Park is located in Ellenton, Florida and represents one of the finest examples of antebellum plantation architecture in the state. The plantation was established in the 1840s by Major Robert Gamble and was primarily a sugar plantation. The main mansion, built in the Greek Revival style, has been preserved and serves as a museum showcasing 19th century plantation life.The plantation covers approximately 16 acres and includes the mansion, several outbuildings, and beautiful grounds. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the history of the plantation, the Gamble family, and the agricultural practices of the era. The site is particularly significant as it is the only surviving plantation house in South Florida from this period.
In addition to its historical importance, the plantation offers educational programs and special events throughout the year.
