No, you cannot put DDR4 RAM in a DDR3 slot due to significant physical and technical differences between the two memory types. DDR4 modules have 288 pins while DDR3 has 240 pins, making them physically incompatible. Additionally, the notch position on DDR4 RAM is different from DDR3, preventing incorrect installation.

The voltage requirements also differ substantially - DDR3 operates at 1.5V while DDR4 uses 1.2V. The memory controllers and signaling technologies are incompatible between generations. Attempting to force DDR4 RAM into a DDR3 slot can damage both the memory module and the motherboard socket.

Motherboards are designed to support specific memory types, and the DDR3 and DDR4 standards are not cross-compatible. If you need to upgrade your system\“s memory, you must use the type of RAM that your motherboard specifically supports according to its specifications.
