Key Largo offers excellent fishing opportunities throughout the year, with different species being more active during specific seasons. The fishing calendar helps anglers plan their trips for optimal catches.
During winter months (December-February), you can target sailfish, kingfish, and blackfin tuna in the offshore waters. The cooler water temperatures bring these migratory species closer to shore.
Spring (March-May) is prime time for tarpon fishing, especially in the backcountry waters. This season also sees good numbers of permit, bonefish, and snook in the flats.
Summer (June-August) offers fantastic dolphin (mahi-mahi) fishing offshore, along with yellowtail snapper and mutton snapper on the reefs. The warm waters also attract billfish and tuna.
Fall (September-November) brings the return of migrating species as water temperatures begin to cool. This is an excellent time for snapper, grouper, and kingfish. |
