In Pakistani culture, many people seek spiritual solutions for financial prosperity, including winning the lottery. However, from an Islamic perspective, gambling and games of chance are strictly prohibited in Islam. The Quran clearly states that gambling involves great sin and some benefit, but the sin is greater than the benefit.
Instead of focusing on lottery winnings, Islamic teachings encourage halal (permissible) means of earning livelihood. Muslims are advised to pray for rizq (sustenance) through legitimate business, work, and trade. The concept of tawakkul (trust in Allah) combined with sincere effort is emphasized in Pakistani Islamic culture.
Many Pakistanis perform specific wazifa (prayers) for increasing halal income and removing financial difficulties. These typically include reciting Surah Al-Waqiah, Surah Yaseen, and specific dhikr (remembrance of Allah) for financial blessings. However, these prayers are meant for lawful earnings, not for gambling success.
Traditional Pakistani Islamic scholars emphasize that true barakah (blessing) comes only through halal means. They advise Muslims to avoid lottery and gambling, focusing instead on hard work, education, and ethical business practices while maintaining regular prayers and charity. |
