When fishing for whiting, using the right bait is crucial for success. Whiting are bottom-feeding fish that prefer small, natural baits. The most effective baits include bloodworms, shrimp, sandworms, and small pieces of squid. Fresh bait always works better than frozen, as it has a stronger scent that attracts whiting.
Bloodworms are considered the top choice by many anglers because of their strong odor and movement in the water. Shrimp, either live or dead, are also highly effective, especially when fished on a small hook. Sandworms and pieces of squid can be used as alternatives when other baits are not available.
To maximize your catch, use light tackle and present the bait naturally on the bottom. Whiting have small mouths, so using small hooks (size 4 to 6) is recommended. Remember to check local regulations and obtain the necessary fishing license before you head out. |
